"As of today, my wishlist on my Xbox account has been completely deleted. Gone." Xbox users lose years of wishlist data, is it a bug or is it a feature?

Many Xbox users have reported that their wishlists on the Xbox store have been mysteriously deleted, leaving them with no record of the games and media they wanted to buy or receive as gifts. Could it just be a bug?
